Now here is a game that ticks all the boxes for me. But will this be enough to make The Baconing a smash hit? You start off upset or rather should I say very bored as you play as Deathspank who is voicing his boredom as he has managed to take down all evil and basically has nothing else to fight or kill. So, like all good and bored superheroes Deathspank decides to put on all the thongs of Virtue at once. This of course can only lead to bad things for Deathspank but you will certainly enjoy this game along the way.
One of the massive selling points and possibly one of the most enjoyable things is waiting to hear what Deathspank will come out with next as some of the sayings will leave you wanting more this if course is a good thing. I find myself now wanting to go back and play through again as I can’t stop thinking about these great and witty one liners. Maybe Deathspank is writing this review of me.
The only let down in the game for me was the weapons. Along the way you are able to collect items and weapons and of course you can use these weapons against your enemies. The problem for me is the weapons feel the same and you don’t really get a sense of real damage with the weapons. Most of the time you will end up taking the weapons apart for cash. This of course can prove quit useful at times (just like in real life).
The plus to the mass weapons available but not being very good is the fact that there are so many enemies to fight you will be quite happy to purchase the game just for the variety. These guys do come in what can only be described as waves and if you are unlucky to die well you won’t mind too much as there seems to be no real punishment for the loss of life in The Baconing (Must be the thongs). That being said the game follows a RPG style and is very enjoyable adults and children will both enjoy this game but I’m not sure it’s one for your mum to play.
Fans of the series will certainly not be disappointed with the game as it continues on where fans would have left off and much can be said for the beautiful worlds created and a great humorous story. Sadly I feel that first time players of the game/series maybe put off by this and I urge you to remember this is not trying to be anything other then what it is. If you’re looking for something with more of a serious story and gameplay experience I suggest you miss this. If you have a sense of humour and like to try out new games then this is a must!
