For web applications, try to learn frontend code first (HTML and CSS). From there, I'd go with PHP. Lua isn't that widely used for web apps. It's used a lot for system programming.

Lua isn't the worst. Lua is C based which mean you'll understand other C languages like PHP and Python very easily after learning it. What do you ultimately want to accomplish, @greg?
