The Windows Store is an app store that has a growing number of applications available to consumers. However, the low number of developers overall who can code has led to multiple initiatives to highlight qualified developers and showcase their work on the Windows Mobile platform. WOWZAPP 2012 and AppFest are a couple of examples of these initiatives, being brought out by Windows, that encourage the “app revolution” for the company’s growing store. Let’s talk a bit more about the events, how to register, and more on it’s potential effect.

Stationed in over 30 locations worldwide, the WOWZAPP 2012 hackathon occurs with multiple students and developers creating a group that will allow them to focus on an application of their own creation. Participants will be provided Visual Studio 2012, developing experts, and free admission to publish their app on the app store (normally a process that costs for publishers).
The hackathon will last from 5PM Friday, November 9th, 2012 until 5PM Sunday, November 11th, 2012. In terms of locations, you can expect multiple events in Europe, from Brussels to Sofia, Copenhagen to Helsinki, with many others in between.
