If we were to ask many successful high school teen entrepreneurs how many of them want to go to college, the hands that would go up would be very few. With teens having successful products, they feel that college would not only be unnecessary, but also a hinderance to their success in being able to focus more on their products.

Gregory Koberger takes another road on the subject of college. Koberger, CEO and Founder of Stealth Startup and former Mozilla employee, went to college and got a Computer Science degree at RIT. Yes, he did consider dropping out and did fail to go to a couple of classes. However, he mentions that the importance and benefits of college are numerous.

Let’s look at the successful startups and entrepreneurs out there today. Many of them did in fact meet, start up, and grow while in college. Koberger mentions that college is a great place for teen entrepreneurs specifically to meet other individuals who have similar interests. Gregory also mentions that the experiences from college are unmatchable. Daniel Brusilovsky does, however, mention that teen entrepreneurs don’t dropout just because. Many do because they are offered amazing opportunities at such a young age. Koberger also mentions that college just isn’t for everyone.

Teens in Tech’s head of marketing, Jon Kaykin, asked Gregory Koberger about the possibility of going on and taking a gap year. Koberger was blunt in saying that gap years truly make students lose interest. He said hat “once you take one or two years off, you’ll probably never go back”.
